Set in Hong Kong in 2014, this hard-boiled visual novel tells the story of a former hitwoman whose husband, the leader of a criminal organization, is brutally attacked. This game is a profound visual novel centered on the revenge saga of its protagonist, the solitary empress Yvet. Yet, beyond this fierce destiny, there are multiple different "truths" that can only be reached through your "choices" as the player.
This game features six distinct endings, each focusing on a specific character with whom Yvet has forged a deep bond.

These endings are not merely variations of a conclusion. They offer an opportunity to uncover "another truth" that delves into the core of the story from the perspective of the character with whom Yvet has strengthened her bond.
By playing through all the endings, you will not only discover various facets of Yvet as a woman but also gain a complete understanding of the complex motives of those around her, and the "full picture" of the entire Red Spider narrative.

This is a remastered version of "Red Spider:Vengeance" a full-voice hardboiled adventure game with multiple endings originally released in 2014.
The theme song is composed by Yasunori Shiono, known for his work on the SFC "Estpolis Denki" (Lufia) series.

A total of 19 cast members participated, with a total voice recording time of 4.1 hours.
The game has been changed from a standing image format to a still image format, with a total of over 530 still images.

The scenario for this game was written with specific actual Hong Kong movie actors in mind, imagining them in these roles.
Details on which actors inspired which characters are included in the game's "Cyclopedia."

Story

The protagonist, Yvet, is a former assassin who received training at the assassination organization "Spiderweb" in her youth. After leaving the organization for personal reasons, she became the wife of Francis, the leader of the Red Flower Society operating in Kowloon.

One night, Francis is attacked at a nightclub and is diagnosed with no hope of regaining consciousness. Sensing an opportunity for succession, ambitious executives begin to scheme, while the Hong Kong Police plan to intervene in the investigation. As acting chairwoman, Yvet must navigate these power struggles, commanding her bodyguards and trusted detective to identify the mastermind behind her husband's assassination.

Set in the world of Hong Kong noir, this story unfolds within the ruthless criminal underworld. Your choices influence the relationships between characters, leading to 6 different endings.

The protagonist. After her parents were murdered in her childhood, she was taken in by an assassination organization and trained in various assassination techniques. Following her escape, she was sheltered by Yang Kun, the former chairman of the Red Flower Society, and became the wife of his son, Francis. She vows to find and avenge her husband's attacker.

When I chose Yvet, I was prepared to accept everything about her, including any past I didn't know about.

Yvet's husband. He had pursued a legitimate career as a lawyer, but after his father Yang Kun's death, he reluctantly took over as chairman of the Red Flower Society at Yvet's request to quell the succession chaos. He was aware of Yvet's past and made it a condition of his succession that she become his wife. The attack on him reignites the succession struggle.

A Message from the Voice Cast

To all the "Red Spider" fans, it's been a while.
I'm Mizuho Kuzuhara, the voice of Francis.
I've been the voice of Francis since "Red Spider 2," so the original was the only one that wasn't me.
Because of that, I had always hoped that if I ever got the chance, I'd like to play the Francis from the original game.
Just then, around the end of 2024, Kelly-san contacted me about producing a remastered version and asked if I would be the voice of Yongxiao for the original.

"I finally get to play the original Francis!" I jumped at the chance immediately.
To prepare for this recording, I replayed the original "Red Spider" (mainly the Francis route), and I thought to myself, "for such a bloody story, it has a lot of romance."
I tried to be a little conscious of that aspect during the recording.
I hope you will enjoy my take on Francis.

The Ghost

You seem quite accustomed to dealing with the police. ......Please be careful not to provoke them too much.

He has served the family since Yang Kun's time. Highly loyal to the organization, he views Yvet with suspicion as she assumes the role of acting chairwoman. To strengthen Yvet's security amidst the succession dispute, he calls in the Luk brothers.

Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to meet you.
My name is Eugene, and I will be voicing the character The Ghost starting with the Red Spider:Vengeance Remastered edition.

I have been given the honor of taking over a main role with a previous actor in the long-running "Red Spider" series.
I felt the pressure of inheriting a role from fans who already have a certain voice in mind from playing the past games, but I was able to enjoy the recording process while bringing my own style to the character.
In fact, if you think of it as being able to enjoy two different versions, doesn't that mean double the fun?
You can enjoy the differences by playing the remastered version first and then the original, and for those who have played the original, you can enjoy the new Ghost that I portray.
I poured my soul into this performance, and I look forward to your support.

There was a scene that left an impression on me during the recording, which I think became a point I focused on. It's the scenes where he makes several phone calls.
I was conscious of trying to convey the subtle difference between talking face-to-face and over the phone, so the phone scenes are my personal recommendation.

He was formerly a police officer. Yvet once saved his life, and out of gratitude, he assists in investigating the attack. He is wary of the Ghost, who seems to be hiding something from Yvet.

Yvet's security detail, summoned by the Ghost. He possesses a trained physique, calm judgment, and high combat capabilities. However, he is less adept with modern IT technology and relies solely on his younger brother, Shawn, for information gathering. He was once part of the same assassination organization as Yvet.

While not highly skilled in combat, he excels at information gathering using the internet. Cracking servers with weak security and developing information-gathering viruses are second nature to him.

You know the weight of taking a life. If you're not that kind of person, your subordinates won't be willing to put their lives on the line.

He was a hot-headed, belligerent fighter who commanded strong trust within the organization. However, he fell under suspicion of plotting Francis's assassination upon the former chairman's death, which subsequently diminished his standing within the Red Flower Society. He has a son named Johnny with his deceased wife.

The remastered version of "Red Spider:Vengeance," a visual novel that wonderfully embodies the spirit of Hong Kong noir, has finally been announced!
This is a masterpiece that was nominated for the Doujin Game of the Year in 2014.
It was later updated with voice acting and has since spawned numerous sequels and side stories.
By depicting the Hong Kong underworld through the eyes of a female protagonist, this work masterfully re-imagines the genre while establishing its own unique identity.
